Willa and Jackson were awesome in their story. I love the setting of small town Montana. I was not sure at first if I would like Jackson but he redeemed himself. Can’t wait for the next book.
Filled this romance reader’s heart with joy!
Some people love everything pumpkin spice...they anxiously await the season. They create countdowns and celebrate the arrival of the first pumpkin spice latte. That feeling, that love fest is how I feel about every book that Author Devney Perry writes!!! I count the weeks, days, minutes and seconds until I am able to be introduced to her new words, world and heartfelt small town romance. She fills my romance reader cup to overflowing! There are no words adequate enough to describe the depth of my love for her writing and book covers.
Just as the wind whispers through the pines in Montana, telling you all of the forest’s secrets, Author Devney Perry whispers words to you to creating the most poignant, heartfelt stories. The words twinkle on your kindle with the same brightening force as a star in the night sky. You look to both with reverence and a wish. The words turn from beauty to despair in the blink of an eye and make you feel so much emotion. You can look at the future and the past with so much clarity. Her descriptive genius makes it all come alive. Her words, they burn the brightest, their intense radiance too bright and hot to linger on, you are drawn to keep turning the pages and reading.
She really is a word whisperer of the most gifted degree!
Her words create a magic carpet ride through the most beautiful canvas of heartfelt books. She lets the genie out of the bottle as an ultimate storyteller takes you on your journey.
So, more about the book. Timid is Jackson and Willa’s story. We met them in Tattered. Their backstory is Willa has been in love with Jackson for seventeen years and he can’t even remember her name never mind notice her.
Willa is shy, sweet, loyal and timid (hence the title). She also has a spit fire streak in her that serves her well.
Jackson is a good time boy. He is loyal to those he loves, but isn’t looking for love. Love hasn’t served him well in the early stages of his life and he guards his heart well.
Timid is a beautiful small town romance that truly filled my romance reading heart with joy!
Devney Perry does it every time!
Devney Perry does it every time!
This lady can write such beautiful story. And this time was no exception. Love Willa and Jackson.
Willa Doon had a crush on Jackson Page ever since she was 17 and he came crashing in to Lark Cove.
But Jackson never noticed her and been calling her the wrong name..till one day. One day he saw a portrait that woke him up and made him notice and suddenly she was all he can think of.
This book so beautiful. Willa was such a strong heroine. You would expect that such a timid woman would be so strong. Loved that!
Jackson..I wanted to slap him one time, but I understood that he didn’t know how to love and he redeemed himself quickly (thanks to Willa, the fighter).
If you haven’t read Devney Perry’s books yet, I suggest you to go immediately and start doing so.
She’s one of the best contemporary romance author these days in my opinion.
TOP READ OF THE YEAR
More over Coppersmith Farmhouse, I have a new favorite Devney Perry book.
Timid is the story between Jackson and Willow... Willa. With an A. Willa. We met these two in the first book of the Lark Cove series, Tattered.
Jackson: bartender. Best friend to Thea. Uncle to Charlie. The ultimate dream guy and always out of reach to Willa.
“He’d stepped straight out of my Seventeen magazine and into the Lark Cove Gas ‘N’ Go.”
Willa: shy, quiet girl. Trusting. Camp director. Lark Cove resident from birth to grave (except those couple years off at college). The girl who’s been dreaming of Jackson Page since he first walked into Lark Cove from NYC when she was just a teen.
Y’all, this is a story you don’t want to miss! Find out how these two find each other. I’m so in love with this book, it’s not even funny...
Devney Perry has this amazing ability to grab you and wrap you up in this story, the town, the characters. I feel like I could look up from my kindle to find Willa knocking on my door to ask if I wanted to keep her company down at the Lark Cove Bar while Jackson works.
I shouldn’t be surprised by this because it’s every book. Every single time I’m taken in and find myself at the end of the book and lost for a little trying to reacquaint myself with the real world.
Another winner from Devney. I give 5 stars... I want to give it more!
Review: Lark Cove 2: Timid
Timid by Devney Perry is the second book in her latest series, Lark Cove . Willa and Jackson's story is heartwarming and endearing and frustrating at times because, you know, men! Ever since getting a small teaser of Willa's story at the end of Tattered I have been eagerly awaiting this release. I was NOT disappointed!
Willa has been in love with Jasckson since she first set eyes on him. She may have been 16 and he way too old for her at the time, but it was teen-love at first sight. It also never went away. Into adulthood, Jackson Page was her crush, the example to which all other men were compared, and everyone was found wanting. If only he could remember her name was Will-A not Will-OW it would be a good start. When he completely forgets their kiss, her FIRST kiss, she is done with Jackson Page. The past years of crushing be damned. D O N E, done!
Jackson is terrible with names and once he learns one it sticks, even if he learns it wrong, as he did with Willa all those years ago. When he keeps having these vivid dreams of a blonde haired beauty and a kiss on a staircase he thinks he is going crazy until he sees his best friends sketch of the girl from his dreams. None other than Willa. How is this possible? Now knowing that his dream woman is real he sets out to pursue her but when she shoots him down EVERY SINGLE TIME he has to wonder why?
The steps it takes for Willa and Jackson to go back to kissing and loving and letting each other in are what makes Devney Perry one of my favorite authors. Every word has a purpose, every twist has a reason. Well-written, well-paced and perfectly plotted this was another fabulous five-star emotional read! Enjoy!

Gosh. I’m not sure where to start.
This book was truly remarkable.
Everything about Willa and Jackson’s story got to me.
The heartache. Watching this timid woman come into herself.
Jackson and how he went about making her his.
Way to go Devney.
Timid gets FIVE MILLION STARS!!!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I adored this story. Willa & Jackson are so beautiful together.
Willa has seriously crushed on Jackson since the day he rode into Lark Cove, being a few years’ older than Willa, Jackson never seemed to notice her.
But that's okay, because now that he does, he'll have her. Or at least try his damnedest to, because when he shows up at her door after failing to remember the best first kiss ever, she slams the door in his face! (Go Girl!!)
Willa doesn't even realize how strong she is; even she underestimates her love for Jackson. Until it finally clicks and she has to put her foot down to stop him from pushing her away because he thinks he can never love like that after his mom effed him up in the head (stupid bish mom she was).
Any who....of course there's drama to keep you guessing and all the friends and fam are back from Tattered to catch up :)
Of course, I knew going in I’d love this story, because, well...Devney Perry. But, I swear, every time I am just shocked and amazed by how freaking good her writing is!!
Loving this series!

Timid is the second book in the Lark Cove series. It can be read as standalone but I do recommend reading Tattered since it’s amazing story as well. And it kind of overlaps with Jackson and Willa’s story.
Willa first laid eyes on Lark Cove’s newest arrival, nine years ago. Since that day, at only seventeen she had a major crush on Jackson Page. Year after year she watched him around town. In the last few years she has seen him bartending at the bar, flirting and going home night after night with some tourist. He never noticed her. Shoot, he didn’t even call her by the correct name. Then one night, he made her seventeen year old self’s dream come true. Then the next day, he forgot all about it. She was crushed and now determined to get over her ridiculous crush. Except days later, he actually sees her. Is it too little too late?
Awe! I loved this story. Willa is wonderful. She is beautiful inside and out. Shy. Protective. Strong. She picks her battles and doesn’t back down. She also makes up the best words. I love how she doesn’t see Jackson as just a sexy bartender. She sees so much more. Jackson is real. He has a past that makes him not trust in many people. He is also protective of the ones he cares about. He is sweet. Together, they are full of fun, passion, fight, and more.
Overall...This series is one of my favorites of the year! I love this Lark Cove group of friends and their families.
P.S. Make sure to sign up for the short story at the end.
I couldn’t like a boy now that I’d seen this man.
I liked that I had the ability to unsettle her a bit. It meant that somewhere in there, her crush on me wasn’t completely gone.
“Seventeen-year-old Willa is doing a victory dance right now.”
Jackson and Willa!!!!
Y’all.... just dive in and get ready! It’s a sweet, smart and emotional ride through Lark Cove and you get to experience all of Willa’s firsts along with her. I just loved them together. I wasn’t crazy about Willa’s schoolgirl personality at first, but once you really get to know her you understand that she really is just a shy, inexperienced girl. Her parents are her role models and she holds them on a pedestal in regards to what she wants in her own love life and she lets nothing stop her or change her mind.
Poor Jackson gets blindsided by his instant attraction to Willa and is so confused it’s cute. I love how hard he tried to get her to finally go out with him, but once they got their groove it was so cute.
I laughed and I cried and wanted to throat punch his mom.
I fell in love with Ryder at the same time my heart just bled for him. You will do the same once you meet these amazing characters and spend some more time in Lark Cove.
Timid by Devney Perry
Timid Lark Cove Series Devney Perry
This is the second in the Lark Cove Series by Ms. Perry and I couldn’t put it down! I love the characters, Lark Cove Bar and the story Ms. Perry weaves around them.
Willa Doon is the director of Flathead Summer Camp, an oasis for kids needing a break from real life. She had saved the camp from closing by finding a buyer, and they kept her on as Director. She has also been in love with the local bartender Jackson Page, since she was a teenager. He barely knows she exists, and constantly called her Willow. A brief encounter on his way home from the bar shakes Willa to her core. He’s attentive and walks her to her door and passionately kisses her. Willa’s first kiss! The next day he remembers nothing. He was drunk and had smoked some weed. Willa was done....time to move on.
Jackson loved his life in Lark Cove. He had moved there to be close to Hazel who had saved him as a teenager. The bonus of Thea, his best friend and Charlie her daughter made life complete. He had occasional one night stands with tourists and that was enough. Suddenly he feels drawn to Willa, shy, quiet and beautiful. He knows she had a crush on him, but when he asks her out, she slams her door in his face. What happened? There are more surprises for Jackson and Willa, some heartbreaking, some dangerous but it brings them closer together. The romance is sweet and hot.
This story can be read as a stand alone, but don’t deprive yourself of the pleasure of reading the first book, Tattered. I am anxiously awaiting the third book in the series, Tragic. Ms Perry is an auto buy for me, her books are always a pleasure to read.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this story, and I also bought a copy for my own digital library.
